About the Intra Judgment Deliberation Competition

The Intra Judgment Deliberation Competition ("Intra JDC") is an esteemed internal event organised by Students for the Promotion of International Law (SPIL) Mumbai in GLC, Mumbai, aimed at fostering critical thinking and analytical skills among budding legal professionals. This competition offers a unique platform for students to engage in the intricate process of judicial reasoning and judgment formulation.

In the Intra JDC, the participants are presented with the Competition Module, which is a comprehensive case file containing the procedural history, facts, and arguments of the dispute at hand. The participants act as Judges or Arbitrators of an international fora, and are expected to reach a well-reasoned judgment or award.

The Intra JDC is inspired by the procedures of various judicial bodies and tribunals that span the spectrum of international law. It challenges participants to analyse complex legal issues, evaluate evidence, and craft well-reasoned judgments. This internal competition is an excellent opportunity for the students of GLC Mumbai, to participate and showcase their legal acumen and gain some practical experience in the field of international law.

Eligibility: All bonafide students of the 5-year LLB and the 3-year LLB students of the Government Law College, Mumbai are eligible to participate. Kindly note that students of the Batch of '28 and '30 are ALSO ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE, and they are highly encouraged to register.

Team Composition: Each Team must have 2 Members. Those unable to find a teammate and form a Team, are requested to fill the Individual Registration Form. SPIL Mumbai shall assist such individuals in reaching out to others who are looking for a teammate, and assist in forming Teams. 

Awards and Merits: The Best Team, The Runner-up, and the 2nd Runner-Up will be presented with medals and ‘Certificates of Merit.’

Every participant shall receive a ‘Certificate of Participation’ that shall be mailed to the registered email addresses of participants.

 

The top-performers of this Competition shall be eligible to represent the Governent Law College, Mumbai at the 16th Government Law College International Law Summit under the following Competitions:
1. Treaty Appreciation Competition (TAC), 2026;

2. College Judgment Deliberation Competition (JDC), 2026.

Demo JDC: To acquaint the first-year students of the 5-year LLB and the 3-year LLB program, SPIL Mumbai shall be conducting a Demo JDC on the 25th September 2025, in an online Mode via Gmeet. The link shall be updated here and disseminated, accordingly.
